Jon sat down on his bed, which now had black sheets on it instead of his usual blue ones, and held his head in his hands. He had to think of a way to get back to normal.
Then, as if a light bulb went off, Jon had an idea. Zoe occasionally shopped at this Goth store on the edge of town. He knew about it because Zoe asked him a few times to drive her there. They sold occult merchandise. Maybe the owner of the store knew of something that could help him.
Suddenly, Jon didn't feel so bad. He could see a possible light at the end of his tunnel.
He walked downstairs, intending to leave, but was stopped by his mom.
"And where do you think you're going?" she asked.
"I've gotta go see someone," Jon said, reaching for the door.
"Oh no, you're not. If you've forgotten, you're grounded."
"What?"
"You heard me. Now get back up to your room."
"But ..."
"No buts! Get the hell in your room, now!" she yelled at him.
"Fine," Jon whimpered. As he walked upstairs he whispered to himself. "Bitch." He immediately grabbed his mouth. It was already happening. Trevor's personality was becoming stronger, especially in heightened emotional situations, like what just happened with his mom. If he didn't try to control himself, he may slip into his new Goth personality even more.
When he got back to his room, he headed straight for the stone. Just one wish would fix this whole grounding thing. But then he halted. What if that one wish messed up things even more? He already tried to make Karyn his friend again, and that turned her into a Goth girl. What if he turned his mom into a Goth girl too? He just couldn't take that chance. He'd have to find another way.
He peered out his window. There was a big tree only six or seven feet from his window. If he could jump to it, he could climb down and be on his way.
So, Jon opened his window and did it. It was a little hard climbing down, but he did get to the bottom in one piece. Then he ran to the Goth store.
After ten minutes of running (his boots were not made for running), he finally made it to The Occult Stop. After opening the thick black door, Jon walked inside. Scanning the room, he saw shelves lined with old books, skulls, demonic jewelry, and CDs of heavy metal music. Haunting organ music played over the speakers. There were only three people in the store, one of which was a Goth boy with blue spiky hair, a black T-shirt, and a long black leather skirt. He was currently looking at CD's. The second person was a Goth girl looking at jewelry. She wore a black corset, black ripped skirt, black and white striped stockings, and boots. Neither of them noticed Jon as he walked inside. The third person was behind the cash register towards the back of the room. Assuming that he was the one that ran the store, he was just the man Jon wanted to see.
As Jon approached him, he got a better look at him. 20-something, pale-skinned, long black hair that partially hid his face, a spiked collar, a fishnet shirt, a long black vinyl skirt, and black boots. It was funny, a few hours ago Jon would have been disturbed by that look, but now he kind of liked it and wondered if he would look that good in a vinyl skirt.
Jon shook his head, forcing the Goth thoughts away. He needed to keep his head. I want to be normal again, Jon thought to himself. Act like it.
"Jon. I haven't seen you here for a while," the guy said.
"Do you know me?"
"Of course, I know you."
"I know this is gonna sound strange, but who are you?"
The guy looked oddly at Jon, which was quite a feat considering all the make-up he was wearing. "Chad."
"Like the guy dating my sister," Jon thought out loud.
"Dating your sister? I think you mean Sarah. Come on, Jon. What's with you?"
Jon paused, thinking of how he was going to do this. "Listen, I need your help."
