Zoe entered her house, with Zelda, Sabrina, and Stephanie. Her friends sat down in the living room, while Zoe went upstairs to her room, to find that sheet of paper that Athena gave her the night before, the sheet that had the list of magic items on it. They now had two pieces of evidence: the list and a brief description of the guy that did this to them (a boy with brown hair). It wasn't much, but now since they at least knew for sure that it was a boy, they felt like they were getting closer.
Zoe's friends looked around the room, astonished at all the photos of Zoe. They figured that in this reality, her mom wanted to show her off as much as possible. She was the most popular girl at school.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Zoe grabbed the list from her desk and left her room, accidentally bumping into her brother Jon on the way out.
"Hey, watch where you're going, you ..." She froze. Her brother's hair was brown. And suddenly she remembered that morning when Jon was down on the kitchen floor, trying to grab what looked like a small ... stone? She looked down at the sheet of paper in her hands. The seventh item down from the top was a magic stone. Could it be that her own brother was the one that did all of this? She just couldn't conceive it.
"Zoe? What is it?" he asked, breaking her out of her thoughts.
"It was you," she said. Then she poked her finger into him. "You did this!"
"Now, Zoe. Calm down. I can explain."
"So, wait a minute. I was right? You really are the one that turned me into a fashion queen? Are you trying to punish me?"
"It's not like that. I was doing you a favor."
"Look at me! You call this a favor?" she yelled, suddenly acting like her old self.
Zoe's yelling caught the attention of her friends, who now stood behind her.
"What's going on?" Sabrina asked.
Zoe pointed at her brother. "He's the one that swapped us."
"What?" Stephanie said.
"Listen," Jon said, trying to explain himself. "I didn't do it to punish anyone. I just wanted to enlighten you."
"Enlighten us?" Zoe said.
"Yeah. I know how much you and your friends hate Sarah and her friends. And vice versa. I just thought it would be good for you to see how the other side lives."
"And how long were we supposed to stay like this?" Zoe asked.
"Well ... you see ... with the wishing stone ..." Jon hesitated.
"What?" Zoe snapped.
Just then Karyn came out of Jon's bedroom, joining the discussion. "Wishes can't be reversed," she said.
Zoe's jaw just about hit the floor. "What are you talking about? You mean I'm stuck this way? Forever?"
"Sorry. I didn't know you'd react this way. I mean, after all those other wishes I made ..."
"What other wishes?" Zoe asked.
"To make all of you and Sarah and her friends fit in with their new lives better."
"Wait a minute. You mean that all of our weird behavior is because you were tweaking our personalities? We're people, Jon! Not robots!"
"Okay, just take it easy."
"And what about Athena and Steve? Are they stuck like that forever too?"
"No. They'll switch back once they ..."
"Once they what?" Zoe asked.
"Once they each have sex with other people three times. Listen, I was just having a little fun with them, that's all. You know how much of a jerk Steve is. I was just teaching him a lesson."
"And were you teaching Athena a lesson too?"
"Well, no. But they won't stay like that forever. All they have to do is have sex three times."
"Have you changed anyone else?" Zoe demanded.
"No, but I was thinking about ..."
Zoe got right up in his face. "Don't you dare. I don't want you messing up other people's lives for your own enjoyment. Haven't you done enough already?"
Jon and Karyn looked at each other, then bolted into Jon's bedroom, shutting the door behind them.
Zoe looked stunned for a moment, then she pounded on the door. "What are you doing in there?!" After a few seconds, she saw a flash of light come from underneath the door. Suddenly, she remembered the night before the swap. She saw a flash of light through her window. At the time, she thought it was lightning. But what if it was actually Jon using his magic stone?
The door opened and Jon and Karyn hesitantly walked out.
"You made another wish, didn't you," Zoe said, still a little upset.
"Yes, but it wasn't for you." Jon paused for a moment. "Um, how do you feel about me not being able to reverse your swap?"
"Listen, Jon. If I have to live like this for the rest of my life, then I'll just have to deal with it. We all will. I mean, you're not an expert in magic. How were you supposed to know that the wish you made couldn't be reversed? It was a mistake. I can understand that."
"You're taking this well," Karyn said.
"There's not much I can do about it. So why complain?" She turned around and looked at her friends. "You wanna go to the mall?"
They nodded and they left.
Karyn let out a puff of air. "That was close. Now, what was the other swap you were talking about?"
Jon smiled. "You're gonna love this one."
