Tiffany walked into her chemistry class. It was just three days ago when she entered that room and all the guys practically drooled at the sight of her. But now it seemed no one paid her any attention. And the ones that did seemed irritated by her presence.
She took her usual seat, second row from the back, and watched as the rest of the students filled the room. One of those students was Sabrina Johnson. She remembered how that girl always made trouble with her bitchy attitude. But now she was completely different. Did she even realize that? Or was she just as clueless as some of Tiffany's friends, before Sarah pointed it out?
Sabrina took her usual seat, second row from the front, and immediately caught the attention of the girl across the aisle. "I love your top, Sabrina."
Sabrina giggled and said "Thanks."
"Hey freak," a boy said, breaking off Tiffany's eavesdropping. She turned towards him and saw that it was Zach Jones, a guy she had sex with more than once back when she was a popular girl (and a slut). It was weird for her to see him treat her so badly.
She tried to ignore him, but that just made him want to bother her more. Next up was a spitball, hitting her right in the face. She wiped it away, then looked back at Sabrina, who was busy talking with the girl sitting next to her.
"Hey," Zach said, returning Tiffany's attention back to him. When she did, she got another spitball in the face. Now she was angry. Why wouldn't people just leave her alone?
Without thinking too much about it, she pointed at him and whispered "Peto somnus." Suddenly Zach's head hit the table with a thump. Tiffany's eyes went wide. What had she done? And how had she done it? She thought about the words she muttered and realized that they were from one of the witchcraft books she looked through. But she had no idea what it meant. What if she killed him?
The teacher Mr. Walker entered the classroom and walked to his desk. "Everyone take out your homework and ..." He coughed. "Mr. Jones, this is no place to be sleeping. Mr. Jones," the teacher said. "Someone wake him up."
The girl sitting behind Zach shook his body. Tiffany couldn't breathe, fearing that he may never wake up. But, fortunately, that wasn't the case. His head lifted up and he groggily said "What happened?"
"Next time, Mr. Jones, get your sleep at home and not in my classroom."
Zach looked around and saw that everyone was looking at him. He was confused, he didn't remember going to sleep. Then he looked back at Tiffany, who tried to look as innocent as possible. She didn't want any consequences to her actions.
Sarah entered her math class and took her usual seat. Several boys who used to want nothing more than to be Sarah's pet now looked down at her with disgust. And the girls looked at her as if she were nothing more than mud on their shoes.
A minute later, Zoe walked in and suddenly the room erupted with talk and laughter, as if Zoe was the life of the party. Sarah felt jealous. She wanted that attention back. It was the good kind of attention, not the bad kind of attention she was living with now, the kind of attention where she would rather be ignored.
The teacher Mr. Donovan walked into the room and the class began.
Melissa walked into her first period class, which was a literature course, and sat down at the back of the room. On her way to her seat, she got numerous laughs. One boy named Pete asked her "What are you supposed to be? A robot?" Then he laughed too.
Suddenly Melissa felt embarrassed all over again. How did Zelda deal with all of this?
Over by the windows, she spotted Jay Duncan. He looked at her differently than the rest of the students. He wasn't mocking her. And that made her feel a little better. At least not everyone is against me, she thought.
When the teacher finally arrived, the class began.
Jessica walked into her economics class and sat down in her seat, watching the rest of the students enter and take their seats. One of them was Stephanie Wright, all dressed up in pink.
Jessica suddenly felt like vomiting, remembering that she used to dress that way. How could she have loved that color so much? It was so ... girlie.
She fingered her spiked collar, thinking about how much she had changed since the previous night. She actually liked dressing in black and dressing like a Goth. For some reason, it was hard not to.
"I love your top, Stephanie," Jessica suddenly heard a girl say.
Stephanie giggled and said "Thanks."
Jessica became disgusted again. Stephanie was so bubbly, so cute, so pink. It made her sick. And for the first time since the switch occurred, Jessica didn't want to return to "normal".
Right before the bell went off, Athena strolled into her first period class. Suddenly the dull looks from the guys in the room turned to lust, as they watched Athena walk sexily to her desk. The girls in the room were annoyed. Was Athena that much better looking than them? Okay, maybe she was. But the girls felt pushed aside.
After she sat down, she accidentally dropped her pencil on the floor and got up from her desk to pick it up. One of the guys was going to help her, but he was glad that he didn't, because he would have missed the "show".
When she bent over, her red lacy panties were in full view, thanks to her very short miniskirt. All the guys moved away from their desks to get a better peek, which made the other girls in the class even angrier.
"Boys," a girl named Susan said, irritatingly.
Zelda entered her literature class and sat down at her usual desk. On her way, at least three girls asked her advice about clothing. What did she know about that? Up until this week, she wore nothing but latex and vinyl outfits. But, of course, those girls didn't know that. They thought that Zelda was someone she wasn't. How was she supposed to fit in with this new life when she didn't even know all the stuff that people expected her to know?
In the back of the class, Jon Gibson (Zoe's brother) watched her, unnoticed.
Amber walked into her world history class and sat down in her usual seat. But this time, she rested her feet up on top of her desk, her boots touching the back of the head of the guy in front of her.
He turned around, annoyed. "Put your feet down!"
She gave him the finger.
The guy huffed, then got up and went to the teacher to complain. The teacher Mr. Moore stood up from his desk and walked down the aisle to Amber.
"Ms. Levine. Put your feet down."
"Fuck you."
"You're going to the office. Now!"
That snapped Amber out of her Goth daze. Without even realizing it, she was acting like Sabrina again. She looked around at all of her classmates with stunned eyes. She had never made trouble before. And she had never made anyone this mad.
She put her feet down and then slowly walked out of the room and to the main office. It felt like it was all a dream. Like she wasn't really there. Never in her life did she ever think she'd get sent to the office. Never. But that's what was happening now. This new life was changing her into a bad person. She didn't want it.
But by the time she got to the main office, she reverted back into Sabrina's old personality without even realizing it.
She sat down in one of the waiting area chairs. Well, it was more like she laid down on one or two of them, keeping her knees up and her head resting on one of the chair arms.
The office door opened and the assistant principal emerged. "Amber. You're next."
"Ugh," she muttered, then got off the chairs and walked inside. She sat down in a chair and put her boots up on the assistant principal's desk.
"Get them off," he sternly said. This broke Amber out of Sabrina's personality again. Suddenly she felt ashamed of the way she was acting.
She removed her feet from the desk and placed them firmly on the floor.
"What are we going to do with you, Amber?" he said. "This is your third time in here this month. Should we suspend you? Hm? Or maybe even expel you?"
Amber became frightened, although it wasn't easily noticeable. Because of this stupid situation her and her friends were now in, there was a possibility of getting expelled?
"That probably wouldn't mean anything to you, would it? You'd probably enjoy being expelled." He paused, looking at her. "But what about spending a night in the city lockup?"
She looked directly at him. "What?"
"Or maybe a week. How would you like that?"
"You can't do that," Amber said.
He leaned across his desk. "With you, I can do whatever I please. You're nothing more than a delinquent, Amber. If I don't steer you straight now, then you'll have hell to pay later. Believe what you want, but I'm not your enemy here." He sat back in his chair. "So what will it be? Follow the rules? Or jail time?"
"I'll follow the rules," she said lowly, although she wasn't sure she'd be able to if Sabrina's personality bubbled to the surface again.
"Good choice."
Amber was let out to go back to her class. On the way there, the reality of what just happened was still sinking in and by the time she got back to her class she was still in a state of shock. She sat down in her chair and didn't make a sound. And didn't make any trouble either.
