Sarah walked into the school and was pretty much ignored by everyone around her, which was the total opposite of how it usually went. Sarah was supposed to be the most popular girl at school. She got a lot of attention. But now it was Zoe that got the attention, something that the former Goth girl wasn't at all used to.
Sarah walked to her locker and opened it. At least I have the same locker, she thought. But, of course, everything inside it looked like it belonged to a Goth more than it did to her. On the inside of her door, there was a photo of her and Tiffany. Both of them were dressed as Goths and were smiling for the camera. In the background, Sarah saw other Goths wandering around. It must have been at a convention or whatever freaks like that go to.
"So, Sarah. Are you still pissed at me?" a boy asked from behind her. She turned around and saw Trevor Blake, the Goth boy she met briefly outside.
"No," she answered. In a way, she was. But she wanted to get him off her back and just get through the day.
"Good. I never want to get on your bad side."
"Okay, whatever." She got her first period books and closed her locker door. Tiffany, Melissa, Amber, and Jessica were just walking into the hallway towards their lockers. Since they were all close friends, they made it a point to have all their lockers in the same place.
Trevor looked at the four arriving girls and then at Sarah. "What's with the outfits? You're not all going 'normal' on me, are you?"
Sarah looked down at herself. Dark blue T-shirt, black jeans, and black boots. This was certainly not normal, at least not for her. "Just a bad clothing day, I guess."
"For all five of you?"
"Listen, I've gotta go. Okay?"
"Okay. Are you coming to my party?" he asked her, still keeping pace with her as she walked to her first class. He wouldn't leave her alone.
"Yeah, sure," she humored him.
"Is Chad coming too?"
"Chad?"
"Yeah. You know. Your boyfriend?"
I have a boyfriend? Sarah thought. Why didn't Zoe tell me?
"Uhh, I don't know."
"Well, you should tell him to come." Trevor parted ways with her, then looked back at her. "See you later."
"Uhh, yeah. Whatever."
Then she walked to her first class.
