The door swung open, showing the two who were in the closet. They were a boy and a girl. Jon had seen them in the hallways before, but he couldn't remember their names.
The moment they made eye contact, they reacted by pointing their guns at Jon.
"He found us!" the girl yelled.
Jon instinctively put up his hands. "Wait! Don't shoot!"
"Then give us the device. That's all we came for."
"What device? What are you talking about?"
The boy stuck out his head and looked down both ends of the hall, then he grabbed Jon and pulled him into the closet. After the door was shut, Jon was pushed to the floor.
The boy crouched down. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way."
"I still don't know what you're talking about."
"Very unlikely. We've seen you use the device already. On your girlfriend."
"My girlfriend?" Jon asked. "You mean Karyn?"
"If that's the one that got the new hair color, then yeah," the girl said.
"Then it's not a device you're looking for. It's a stone. Just a stone."
"Where is it?" the boy asked.
"I ... um ..."
"That wasn't a request. Tell me where it is!"
The boy pointed his gun at Jon.
