Something about my situation bugged me. A few moments later, it came to me: The time.
I had started out in London, at sunset. When I teleported to Brazil it was now the middle of the day and kids were at school. But teleporting back should make it sunset again. So why was I just waking up? Of course, the guy who had the stone could have just wiped my memory, but if so, why didn't he just make me forget the stone completely? And from what I had discovered about the stone having to move long distances in jumps, the only way to wish me back here would probably be to come here with the stone and me, make some wishes, then return to Brazil with just the stone. Possible but a bit unlikely.
So though nothing was certain, the most likely possibility was that I was still in Brazil and this was an illusion meant to keep me occupied.
Which didn't help at all. How do you escape an illusion? How do you even tell if you're in one? The best I could do was play along until I figured something out. I got up and brushed my long hair out of my face... as you may have guessed, illusion or not, I was a girl now.
