I was pretty well hidden in the bush, but clearly not so well that I was invisible. I noticed a couple of the kids in the class had noticed me and were stealing glances when the teacher wasn't looking.

One little boy at the far side of the class seemed particularly interested in me. I was starting to think maybe I should get out of there before they pointed me out to the teacher when I swore I saw the boy mouth "Jon, go away!"

I blinked. I must have imagined it, surely? I stared at him. A few moments later he looked back at me. "Really - get lost!" he mouthed. I just gaped. How could this kid in a random South American classroom possibly know who I was? There was only one explanation. I had found Grandpa!

I retreated back into the bush for while so I was less visible, but waited stealthily for the class to end.

When the bell finally sounded, I reemerged and made sure to catch the little boy's eye and pointed indicating we should meet. He seemed unsure, but after a moment's hesitation, he nodded.

And so, a couple of minutes later I was staring down at a 7 year-old Brazilian boy through a wire-mesh fence.

"Grandpa?" I asked, hesitantly.

"You should not have come here, Jon," he said. "This is exactly what I was trying to avoid." I was surprised to hear he had a strong accent. The English was obviously something of a struggle for him.

"I needed answers! I knew something was not right! What are you doing here? Why are you a little kid?!"

He sighed. "There are bad people. People who are after the stone. I needed to disappear and to disappear the stone so they wouldn't get it. You are in grave danger coming here. And you're putting everything and everyone else in danger. Don't you understand? If these people got the stone, they'd change the world to their own ends and no one would even be aware of it!"

"Who are they? What's going on here?" I asked. I was intrigued, despite a growing sense of nervousness.

He shook his head. "You need to go. Don't come here again. They could be watching me. Just forget about me. Keep the stone safe. I trust you, Jon. That's why I sent it to you, but you must leave!" He started to walk back away from the fence to join the other children.

"Wait!" I called after him, desperately, but he didn't turn back. Indeed, I was starting to draw a few questionable stares. Time to go.

This was frustrating. There was more to know here, but I trusted my Grandfather. I needed to escape now before something bad happened.

Unfortunately, just as I grabbed the stone to wish myself home, I realised I was slightly too late...
