The one thing he knew his mother really regretted was her lost youth. She had become pregnant with Jon at the age of 17, and frequently lamented her loss of those carefree, teenage years. Jon decided he should give her a taste of that youth again.
"I wish," he said, "that when mom wakes up tomorrow, she will be 16 again. Like me, she will remember her old life, as if she had heard this wish, and she would know why she was young. At the same time, we would both have memories of the new reality, in which she is one of the children in the family, and we would accept this new reality, and be close to each other."
With that wish wished, Jon went to sleep.
