"We still have more rounds to do," the nurse said. "Now, come on." She pulled Jon out the door and to her car, which was parked along the side of the street.
"But I ..."
"Shut it, Jon. You promised not to make trouble."
Jon supposed that maybe he could play along, for now. Maybe he could get the nurse to drop him off at Karyn's house. That would at least same him some time.
They both got into the car and the nurse drove it onto the street.
"I was wondering if we could make a short stop," Jon said. He was amazed at his accent, which, like the nurse, was clearly Jamaican. He wasn't trying to make it sound that way. It just came naturally, like he really was Jamaican.
"No stops, Jon," the nurse said, sternly.
"But it will only take a minute," Jon pleaded.
