Jon grew quickly bored watching Karyn try to change color, and went home for the evening.
Jon came back to the lab the next day after school. Lisa led him to the lounge.
"Karyn's just getting done with some tests, she'll be out shortly," Lisa said, sitting down.
Jon was in a way terrified of Lisa, reasonably sure that she was probably close to a hundred years old. She had probably become a goo girl in the way hinted by Dr. Chester earlier -- her original body having broken down from old age and replaced bit by bit by N-Cells until she was a new woman entirely. Everything she did with her body seemed to be calculated to be seductive -- the way she walked, the way she sat down, the way she adjusted her lab coat.
"How's Karyn's progress?" Jon asked.
"She started getting it this morning, she can do a pretty good normal look now. You should get the process done on yourself now, as soon as you can, you'll enjoy it. Sex between two goo people is... something else. The way you get swirled together and start to see into each other's thoughts, is something beyond anything you could experience before," Lisa urged.
"I'm not sure Karyn and I are like that. We've been friends for a long time. Sometimes I wish we could be more, but I don't think she sees me that way," Jon confessed.
Lisa gave an odd smile, and leaped onto Jon to give him a kiss.
At first Jon was confused and resistant, but he looked up to see another Lisa in the doorway, and the face in front of him melting and rearranging into another face. "So it's the old trick me into confessing my true feelings by impersonating someone else maneuver."
"Yeah," Karyn said, her lab coat transforming into a denim jacket. "I sort of merged with Lisa for a bit this morning, so I could pick up some of her skill and get good at doing colors. I guess it's why I was also able to imitate her pretty well."
"So, what next?"
"You need to get the thing started on yourself. I can go home and go back to school on Monday. My parents get back Thursday night, I guess I'm going to have to show them what happened to me."
"If you just want to come back here we can get the process going for you," called Lisa.
Forty-five minutes later, Jon was back at Karyn's house. As soon as they were in the door, Karyn's clothes and skin melted away as she returned to the semisolid form she had yesterday.
"So, what do you want to do?" Karyn asked.
