It surprised Genie just how quickly her master responded with her wish. So many people would have still been flabbergasted at the sight of a woman coming out of a bottle that they would have not been able to wish. But Claire knew already what she wanted, and she made her command to Genie clearly.
"I wish my fiancé and I could settle on a date for our wedding."
And just like that, Genie bowed deeply to her master, and she spoke again to the woman, saying "A wise wish, Master. I shall have it done, as you command."
The world seemed to open up for Genie. Time itself wove around her pinky, winding around it like the ribbon of a cassette tape. She could choose any date for the wedding, and her master would accept it. She would have to. Genie knew that her master did desire a wedding very soon, but Genie also wanted to extend her time with her master. First, because the warm, broad smile of her master had always set Genie's heart fluttering. Second, because she did not want to go back to her lamp. Who knew what would happen to her then? Perhaps Genie would be trapped in a "Cave of Wonders" for a thousand years.
Genie made her magic work and a moment later, a card appeared in her hand. Simply white with gold lettering and green accents that swirled like genie smoke. It was a "save the date" card and Genie created a whole box of them, declaring the wedding to take place two months hence. She handed these to her master, who was eager to see just what her genie had wrought. And it was at this time Genie thought it would be a good time to build a relationship with her master. It would be easier for her to escape her bondage with the help and support of her master, or at least, not being stuck in her lamp. So she said something she hoped would peak Claire's interest; something about her past life free of the lamp. But she also wondered if Claire would even care.
"I hope, Master, that your wedding is the day of bliss you dreamed of. Would that I have been able to wed, before my imprisonment ..."
