"Well, can you fix it? I don't want to be stuck this way," Sarah said.
John sighed, then said "Sure." He turned towards the orb, but it wasn't there!
Seeing an open window on the other side of the room, he feared that the orb might have left. And that's exactly what happened. While the two of them were arguing, the orb decided to leave. At first, it was entertained by John and his "new" friends, but eventually, it grew bored and just left. John's mistake was giving the orb too much of an intelligence. It really did have a mind of its own.
"We've gotta go find it before ..." John began.
"Who's 'we'?" Sarah asked. "If you haven't noticed, I'm stuck in this contraption," she said, gesturing towards the wheelchair.
"Oh. Right. Okay, just stay here and I'll go find it," John said, before leaving his apartment. He had to find it before it granted anyone's wishes. And it would grant any wish that was said in its presence. That's how it was designed. But where could the orb be?
