"Because you're a woman, of course," said Nick. "Even though you're disguised as a man and everyone else thinks of you as Patricia's husband and Vicky's dad."
The stubble on Ryan's face vanished and Ryan's features softened, but Ryan still kept her height, her short hair, and was still dressed in a suit. Vicky was still nearby, too; Nick suspected she was the daughter from an earlier relationship since otherwise making Ryan female would have to have changed her parentage and altered her appearance.
"How did you know?" asked Ryan.
Nick leaned over to Ryan's ear. "Silly," whispered Nick, "because...."
