Tomás Hernández walked back to his car, but his wife didn't seem to be there. She must have tried to go in after him. He was gone a while. He supposed that he couldn't really blame her. But this town had an ominous quality to it. It wasn't such a good idea to just roam around it aimlessly.
"Jennifer!" he yelled out with his usual Latino accent, hoping his wife could hear him. But he got no answer. Just the same silence he got from the deserted town ever since he and his wife arrived here.
He checked his watch. He really wanted to get back on the road and continue traveling to the Niagara Falls. They waited five years for a proper honeymoon and he didn't want to wait any longer.
"Jennifer! Honey, where are you?!" he yelled, but still got no answer. Where could she be?
Unknown to Tomás, Jennifer wasn't really his wife. Also unknown to him, he was the attendant of the gas station he had just left. Somehow, he had switched places with Daniel Johnson. So now, Tomás thought that he was on his way to his belated honeymoon with Jennifer, and Daniel thought that he worked at a gas station in Pleasance, Indiana.

Jennifer continued to stare at Daniel, which was obviously making him uncomfortable.
"Lady, really, what's the matter with you?" he asked.
