"Mom, I really have a lot of homework to finish. And I have to study for tomorrow's chemistry test," Brenda's youngest daughter Rachel said. Unlike her sister, Rachel had fallen into the world of academia and had, thus, become a nerd. Brenda didn't mind. Rachel was a bright girl. She should take part in activities that fit her strengths. But she just wished that Rachel could be a bit less shy and bit more outgoing. And touching up on her looks wouldn't be a bad idea either. Nowadays, she was more likely to have her head in a book than out having fun with friends.
"It won't take that long. I promise," Brenda said. "Krista already agreed. She's waiting outside."
Rachel sighed, then said "Okay."
And with that, Brenda left the house with her two daughters - Rachel and Krista.
A few seconds after they left, the phone rang and eventually went to the answering machine. "Hello? Honey? It's Alan. The meeting just got done. Uh ... I guess you're in the middle of something. When you get this message, call me back, okay? Bye."
