Alan got back in his car and headed to the only gay bar in town that he knew of. It was odd that he hadn't gone there before, but better late than never.
Once he arrived, he parked his car and headed towards the building. But before he could enter, someone called out his name. He turned and saw a young man across the street. He was crossing the road over to him.
"I thought that was you," the man said.
Now that he was close-up, Alan recognized him as Stuart Morrison, a guy he worked with at the office. How did he not notice before how sexy Stuart was? If only he was gay like him, he'd ...
"You do realize that's a gay bar, right?" Stuart said.
"Yeah, I know. That's why I'm going in there. I was hoping to find a hot guy."
Stuart looked weirdly at him. "But ... you're not gay. And besides that, you're married."
"Of course I'm gay. I thought by now you would have noticed. It's not like I've been keeping it a secret. And married? Where did you get that idea from?"
Now, Oliver was really good at making people believe things were true when they really weren't, but he was kind of new to all of this (only been doing it for a few months) and while he could completely change people's minds, he tended to forget ... well ... the little things. In this case, Alan's wedding ring, which Alan was still wearing!
"From that," Stuart said, pointing to the wedding ring on Alan's hand.
Alan looked down and became confused. He knew that he wasn't married, so why was he wearing a wedding ring?
"And the fact that I've met your wife and kids."
"Wife and kids? But I'm gay. I don't have a wife. I can't even imagine that I ever will. Women are just ... ugh. Only a man will satisfy me."
"Alan, what's wrong with you?" Stuart asked, really getting concerned.
