"I suppose you're going to fix what I did now and change me too, huh?" Oliver asked.
"It sounds like a good idea, but I can't," Lori said.
Oliver looked puzzled.
"I'm a woman. So I can only affect the minds of men. If you want to fix what you did, you'll have to do it yourself. Unless you know another controller who's male."
"There's more people like you and me?" Oliver asked.
"Yeah, of course. Wait, you thought you were the only one?"
"Well, yeah. I never imagined ..." He paused. "How many are like us?"
"Not too many, but enough." She paused. "You must be one of the newer ones. I've had my power for almost four years. How long has it been for you?"
"Just a few months."
She nodded. "So you're still getting the hang of it."
"I guess so." He paused. "So, I'll never be able to control the minds of men?"
"That's right. Controllers like us can only affect the minds of the opposite sex."
"Can we control each other?"
"No, only people who aren't like us. Like Alan here," she said, gesturing in his direction.
"What exactly could you make Alan do?" he asked, just curious.
Lori smiled. "I'll show you."
