"I suppose you're going to fix what I did now and change me too, huh?" Oliver asked.
"It looks like I might have to. You have to be more subtle with how you use your power. You could attract unwanted attention."
"Like the police?"
She shook her head. "No, not the police. There's a group of people out there that want to put an end to our kind."
"There's more people like you and me?" Oliver asked.
"Yes. A lot more than you think."
Oliver never thought that there could be more like him. He thought that his gift was unique.
"You don't usually hear about them, though, because they keep a low profile. And you should do the same." She paused for a moment. "If you promise that you won't do anything like this again ..." she said, nodding towards Alan. "... then I'll keep your mind intact. But I'll still have to recondition everyone else. I've been at this longer than you, so I can fix them a lot faster. Do you promise to be more careful with your power?"
"Yes, yes, of course," Oliver said. "Just don't change me, okay?"
Lori nodded. "Okay, so where's your house?"
"It's that one right there," Oliver said, pointing at it.
