The family was in a state of shock. The events that had preceded shook them up. David felt the urge to run out the door but found it to be locked. Every door and window was shut. Denise began to panic.
"What if we're trapped here? We need to get food!" She began to freak out.
"Don't worry folk." A bodiless voice was reassuring them. It was Dr. Gilmore speaking to them without the aid of a television or radio. The family looked around to see where the voice was coming from. "I've made sure you have the provisions to look after yourselves. Your refrigerator will always be full. I'll be monitoring you and several other families for some testing. See, science is always bogged down with too many restrictions. Now we'll finally get the chance to conduct experiments without limitations."
Andy spoke out. "So we're lab rats?"
Gilmore explained. "Think of it as a paradise. Anything you need will be taken care of, in exchange you preform in test that you will forget once this is all over. And who knows you will probably be better off. Please walk into the kitchen."
As if in a trance the family of four walked into the kitchen. To their eyes they saw a buffet of breakfast. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and more. The family gathered around to feast. They pleasantly ate as if the food was hypnotizing them to forget the situation they were in. They were starting to relax when Gilmore spoke up again.
"Ok Watson family it is time to start the first program. You four will participate in a situation in which your physically and mental states will be drastically altered. "
The fear struck back. "What are you going to do to my family?" Steven wondered.
"Do worry Mr. Watson, this is a simple program, the details are as followed..."
