Dr. DeGonia grinned, then answered Laura's question. "We need your body."
"Excuse me?" she asked.
"Laura. May I call you Laura? You have a fantastic body. But you never show it off or use it to your advantage. It's such a waste."
"To use my body in that way would be against everything I believe in."
"Well, fortunately, what you think doesn't really matter." He grabbed something from a nearby table. It looked like some kind of mechanical device. He lifted it up so she could see it. "In this device is essentially another person."
"Another person?"
"Well, mentally, anyway. A person's mind is made up of several different aspects, but I've found that there are really only three main parts. Memory, personality, and experience. In this device, I have the personality and experience of one of my clients. She wants a fabulous body ... and she's going to get yours."
"You're insane. You can't trap someone's mind in ... in something like that."
He sighed. "You aren't listening, are you? I said that only experience and personality are stored within this," he said, waving the device up and down. "My client's memory is not included. There's no need, since she'll have your memories."
"You're crazy." Seeing that she was really in trouble (she didn't believe what this man was telling her, but she was definitely sure that he was insane and it was never good to be in the same room as an insane person), Laura tried to get out of her bindings.
"Not crazy," he said. "Gifted, perhaps; maybe a bit eccentric. But not crazy. I can do what I've said. I've already done it six times. And all of them were successes. I took boring, prudish women with incredibly sexy bodies that they never showed off, and turned them into strippers, hookers, and porn stars." He smiled.
Laura was horrified. If what this man said was really true, then she was in a lot more danger than she thought. She was a devout Baptist. She couldn't allow someone to brainwash her into becoming a ... a ... a prostitute! She had to do something!
