"Hello, Margaret," Laura said, walking into the room. Today, she was helping the pastor's wife with making plans for the upcoming church picnic. Laura sat down in one of the chairs around the conference table, as Margaret handed her several sheets of paper.
"Going for a new look?" she asked Laura.
"Huh?" She saw Margaret pointing at her head. "Oh, yeah. I was thinking that maybe I could wear my hair down today."
"I don't think I've ever seen you do that before."
"Well, it's such a nice day outside. I didn't want to feel too pent up."
"Well, I think it suits you," Margaret said. "You should do it more often."
"Thanks," Laura said, smiling just a bit. She had already decided back in her car to just deal with her hair later, but after she walked into the church, she figured why not just deal with it right now? So she did. She took it out of her severe bun and let it hang down. Now, it was down to just past her shoulders. She couldn't help but smile to herself. She hadn't worn her hair down like that since she was maybe twelve or thirteen. It really made her feel young again. Something she hadn't felt in years.
They continued making plans for the picnic until they were finished, just before noon. It was a painstaking process, but it was worth it. Laura now had the rest of the day to herself. But first, she decided to go out to lunch with Margaret.
"I'll drive," Margaret offered.
"Great," Laura said. "I'll be right there. I just need to use the restroom first."
"Okay," Margaret said, then left the building as Laura headed towards the women's restroom.
