Chris looked up at the clock. What was taking so long? Couldn't the guards find the video recording already? His sprays were gone. Someone took them. Who knew how they were being used right now? Okay, he didn't know that anyone was using them, but his mind shifted towards the worst possible scenario. If someone figured out what the sprays were capable of, he was absolutely sure that they would use them. He did.
"Danny," a man said out in the hall. There was a radio squawk and then just static. "Danny, you there? Did you find anything?" Just more static. Apparently, one of the guards had gone missing ... specifically, the one who was told to look for his case of spray canisters. This was not good. This Danny guy was probably one of the spray victims.
The first guard walked back into the room with a video disc in hand. "Okay, let's see," he said, placing it into a nearby video disc player. A moment later, the security recording of the lobby from that morning showed up on the video monitor. It showed exactly what Chris claimed - that he wasn't buff or nearly as sexy in the slightest. The guard looked at Chris, then back at the monitor. "This could be your brother," he said.
"I don't have a brother," Chris said. "That's me. And because of those sprays, I look like this now."
The guard sighed, thinking about this. He had heard of some strange things down in R&D;, but nothing like this. Sprays that physically change people within seconds? It almost seemed like science fiction. But there was no denying what he saw on the screen. Maybe this Chris guy was telling the truth after all. He still couldn't let him go, though. The CEO made that clear. The guy was fired, there was no turning back. But if these sprays could do what he said they could, then they had a definite security problem on their hands. And as chief of security, Andy Morrison was the one to see that this problem was dealt with.
He grabbed a radio and spoke into it. "Listen up. This is Andy. It is extremely important to find the small case of canisters that went missing from the cubicle of ..." He looked at Chris.
"Chris Miller."
"... Chris Miller. It's dangerous. So find it and bring it back to security. And be careful."
"Thank you," Chris said.
