A few minutes later, Greg returned to his office with 39-year old Katie Shepard. She was the goody-two-shoes religious type. She was a hard worker (which Greg liked), but her superior morality ticked him off. And she always dressed so plainly. She was an attractive woman, but her prudish personality limited her from showing off her good looks.
Well, I'll just have to do something about that, Greg thought, as they both entered his office.
After closing and locking his door, he sat down behind his desk. Katie sat down in the chair across from him.
"Am I in trouble? Because ..." she started.
But Greg just waved her off. "Not at all. In fact, this just might be your lucky day." And mine, Greg thought in his head.
For a moment, Katie seemed joyous (maybe she thought she was getting a raise, or maybe even a promotion - she was one of the hardest working employees on the floor). But her joy was short lived, as realization came to her. Greg Stevenson was only an assistant manager. He wasn't authorized to give raises or promotions. (Greg would have to change that.) So, after the joy left her face and confusion replaced it, she asked "What's this all about?"
