Sarah followed Jessica down the hall from a distance and was both shocked and not when she saw that she met up with that Athena girl. Who else would she meet with, given how she looked?
"You look great in that outfit," Athena said, smiling.
"Thanks," Jessica said. "My other friends don't think so, though." She sighed. "Why can't they just see that this is what I want? Why do I have to be a cheerleader?"
"You dropped from the squad, right?" Athena asked.
"Of course," Jessica said.
Athena smiled. "It's not for you, you know."
"Yeah, I know. For a time, I thought it was. But recently, it's been turning me off." Jessica turned and spotted Sarah down the hall. "What the fuck?"
"What is it?"
"It's Sarah. She's spying on me. I can't believe I actually considered her a friend. What was I thinking?"
"You want me to tell her off?" Athena asked.
"No, I want to do it."
As Sarah watched Jessica and Athena from afar, she noticed that Jessica had spotted her. And when she saw her walking in her direction, Sarah decided to make herself scarce. The last thing she wanted was to push her friend away even further. She was only keeping an eye on her because she cared, but with Jessica's frame of mind, she might see it as something else.
By the time Jessica got there, Sarah was long gone. But Sarah hadn't given up. She still intended on finding out what happened to her friend.
