"Since when do you refer to your mom by her first name?" Jon asked Karyn.
His friend looked confused. "Mom? Bethany isn't my mom."
"Definitely not," Bethany purred, still feeling up Karyn. "But wouldn't that be so hot?" Jon tried to ignore her.
"What? Karyn, she's been your mom for as long as I can remember. Are you saying she adopted you or something?"
"Jon, I really have no idea what you're talking about. Bethany is my lover. She's been my lover for at least two years now."
Could this actually be true? How could it be? Was he just lucky enough not to notice until now? He shook his head. No, this couldn't be true. He knew Karyn and her family. Her mother acted like a mother. Not some lesbian lover. This just didn't make any sense.
"Okay, then," Jon said, humoring her for a moment. "If she isn't your mother, then who is?"
