Jon looked down at the bone flute, then decided to go ahead and wash it off. He headed to the bathroom and used the sink to clean off the flute. Then, after drying it, he slowly brought it up to his lips.
Was he really going through with this?
He shook his head, driving away all hesitation, then blew into the flute. The sound was high-pitched and airy, kind of like a dog whistle, but something that a human could hear. It wasn't very musical. In fact, it was kind of annoying, so after a few "toots", he pulled it away from his lips. Why would his grandfather send him a musical instrument that wasn't even musical? Maybe he was using it wrong? Or maybe it wasn't meant to be played. Maybe it was some rare ancient artifact that only existed to be collected, like a museum piece.
Sighing, Jon left the bathroom. Maybe he could get some money for it at the pawn shop.
