As Norton began to take the long way around the park (he didn't want to walk straight towards the girl, since he thought it would create suspicion - and he didn't want people noticing him), he took the plastic container out of his pocket and dipped his finger inside. As long as the goo was on anything other than someone's neck, the nanobots would stay within the goo.
Unfortunately, Norton was so busy eyeing the girl that he wasn't watching where he was stepping and accidentally tripped over an exposed tree root. He fell to the ground with a thud and cursed. But he seemed to be okay. His neck hurt a little, so he rubbed it.
His eyes went wide as he felt the goo touch the back of his neck. "No," he uttered, to his horror.
He had to get out of there. If he got back to his lab, he could extract the nanobots from his brain. But out here ...
The chances that someone would say the passcode were incredibly low. But he didn't want to take the chance. The nanobots would work on him just as much as anyone else. And he had no intention of becoming one of his own test subjects. Though, on a brighter note, when he made the nanobots, he put a sort of "failsafe" into the programming. If the passcode hasn't been repeated to bring the subject out of the hypnotic trance after an hour then the subject is automatically brought out of it. He figured an hour was more than enough time to manipulate someone, if he didn't want to do it in short successive sessions.
He glanced around the park, feeling disappointed that he wasn't able to use the girl (the one he chose) to be his new mother. And then he started to walk back home.
