I opened my eyes. My dream was over.
But part of me wished it wasn't.
I looked around and saw the same cavemen I saw before, when I had exited the cave. I leapt to my feet and retreated away from them, but they had me surrounded.
"Ot akaaa!" said the one who held me hostage earlier. From what I could tell, he might have been their leader. He leaned in towards me and repeated. "Ot akaaa!"
Okay, okay. Whatever. I had meant to say that. It sounded so perfect in my mind, but when it came out of my mouth, it sounded like "Ot akaaa! Wataaa!" What was wrong with me? Why was I talking like them?
Part of me began to wonder if maybe I had become one of them. That maybe that floating sphere changed me. But if that was the sphere's purpose, why do it? Why turn people into cavemen? It didn't make any sense.
I walked away from the leader, trying to distance myself. But it wasn't until ten steps into my walk that I realized that I wasn't walking. At least, not like a human. In fact, it was much more like how a gorilla moved.
I began to get frightened. I was already talking and moving like a caveman. What if I actually started to think like one too? I would lose all of my identity. I would become an animal.
This was definitely not the future I wanted to wake up in.
