Lizzy moved her hand over the display screen and touched the picture showing the deserted island that was previously seen within the contraption. Immediately, the portal's "picture" changed to show a tropical island filled with palm trees and little else.
"Now what?" Jeremy asked.
"We step through," Seth said.
Jeremy walked up to the portal, took a deep breath, then walked into it. The trip was instantaneous. One moment he was in the ship's cargo bay, the next he was on the tropical island. He could smell the salty ocean air and feel the warmth on his skin. It was all real.
