Ally unlocked the door, then slowly and cautiously opened it. In the hall stood a pizza delivery guy.
"Extra large. Sausage, pepperoni, green peppers?" the guy asked.
Ally grabbed her head. Some of Eric's long hair fell across her face, so she had to brush it aside. Did she order a pizza? She didn't remember doing it, but considering she was stoned, it might have been a possibility.
"How much?" she asked.
"Nineteen seventy-seven," the guy said.
"Shit," Ally said. "That's a lot."
"It's an extra large, buddy."
Ally grumbled, then took out Eric's wallet and got out twenty dollars, almost all of the money in there.
"Keep the change," Ally said. Eric would never say that. He was always strapped for cash, considering his addiction. But Ally's sense of kindness won over in this instance.
"Thanks," the guy said, then walked down the hall towards the stairs.
Ally closed and locked the door, then walked back to the couch and sat down. How long was I out? she wondered.
