"Who's there?" someone shouted out.
"It's me. White," the Colonel called back.
"Come slowly."
White turned to Charlie. "Walk slowly. And with your arms up." He put up his own arms and then walked ahead.
Then Charlie did the same and followed.
They walked out of the forest and into a small clearing. In the center of it was a fortified metal structure. Although it looked like it had stood the test of time, there were enough dents and scorch marks on it to show that it had been through hell and back.
A young man stood at the entrance with a rifle. "Good to see you, sir." He stepped back and let White and Charlie enter. "Who's this?" he asked.
"He's an outlander."
"You're kidding."
"No. Come on. This changes everything."
"You bet it does, sir." The man with the rifle walked inside with them and closed the door. Then he activated a device on the wall and bolts of blue electricity danced across the door.
