Charlie reluctantly went with her. But on the way, he constantly looked for a reason to get out of there.
Just as the mall entrance was in sight, the sky changed color again. This time it was red again.
Charlie froze in place. He knew what happened last time this happened. Vicky's body was merged with two her friends' bodies, essentially becoming a new girl named Vanessa.
"Vincent! What are you doing? Come on," Lisa said, charging back towards him, when she noticed that he wasn't walking along with her anymore.
"No, don't touch me," he said, holding out his hands, palms out.
"What the hell's wrong with you?"
Charlie looked around him. He wanted to make sure he was far enough away from everyone. He wasn't taking any chances.
A few seconds later, the sky shifted back to blue. He beat it. Apparently, it required him to willingly make contact with someone else. This was good, because he could take precautions next time. At least he could for the red sky. He wasn't sure about the green and orange skies.
He walked slowly over to Lisa. "Sorry. I just wigged out there."
"If you don't like being out with me, just say so," Lisa said. She was clearly upset.
"Okay. I don't like being out with you. Listen, I gotta go. Okay?" Charlie said, then ran away. He had to find out what was happening and maybe, just maybe, find out how he could get his own body back.
