Charlie followed the nervous woman into what appeared to be a service entrance to the building. As soon as he walked through the doorway, someone grabbed him.
He struggled to get free, but Renee's body wasn't as strong as his own.
"Tie her up," a man standing in the shadows said. "And gag her. I don't want her alerting anyone."
Charlie felt his hands getting bound. It brought back the recent memories of getting tied up by Donovan back in the deserted Los Angeles. But Donovan didn't gag him.
"Come on, move it," the man who tied him up said, as he pushed Charlie forward.
This was not good. Apparently, Renee was being taken hostage. And given how rich and powerful she was in this reality, these people were probably serious professionals. Charlie figured that they wanted money, but their reasoning for taking Renee hostage could have been something else.
This was a time when the colored skies might have come in handy. Why did they only happen at the worst and most inconvenient of times?
