"Ms. Smith," Charlie heard a woman say. "Excuse me, Ms. Smith."
Charlie turned and saw a woman standing near the curb, next to a limo. Renee's last name was Smith, according to her ID, so Charlie assumed that she was talking to him.
"Your ride is here," she said, opening the back door.
"Uh ... thank you." Charlie got into the limousine and the woman shut the door. He had never been in a limo before. It was quite roomy. Renee must have been fairly rich in this reality.
The limo driver's voice spoke over the intercom. "Good afternoon, Ms. Smith."
"Uh ... good afternoon."
"I assume that your 3 o'clock appointment is still on?"
"Uh ... sure. Yes." Charlie had no idea, but he thought that he could just play along, for now.
The driver nodded, then drove the limo out into traffic.
