This time the color of the sky was a flash of green. As soon as it happened, Charlie unwillingly hopped into the man's body.
"Thanks," Emily said, smiling. As he gave over the package to her, Charlie made sure he touched Emily's hand, but nothing happened. Emily looked oddly at him. "Is there something wrong?"
Yeah, there's something wrong! I can't hop back into you! Charlie screamed in his head. The sky hadn't flashed green again. This should be working. Unless ... he couldn't hop back that fast. He remembered that when he first started hopping, he hopped from the mother to the daughter, then back to the mother again, but only after a minute or so.
While Charlie was contemplating all of this, Emily closed the door on him. He blinked and realized that he had missed his chance. Maybe it was enough time now. Maybe it would have worked.
Then the sky flashed green again.
Well, that was that. He was stuck as the delivery man.
He looked around. Now what was he going to do?
