This time the color of the sky was orange. As soon as it happened, Emily's body began to change. And within seconds, Emily had become a man, a male version of herself.
"Thank you, sir," the girl scout said, then skipped away to the next house.
Charlie couldn't move. But a minute later when he finally could, he looked down and saw what he had feared. He wasn't pregnant. Obviously, since he was now a guy.
He closed the door and walked into the living room. After collapsing in a chair, he almost burst out in tears. Out of all the things that could happen, why did this have to happen? Not only was Emily gone, but her unborn baby was gone too. And what if he waited around until the sky turned orange again? Presumably, Emily would become herself again, but what about the baby? Would Emily even be pregnant?
No, that baby was gone forever.
