Charlie studied herself in the mirror a bit longer. In addition to getting younger from the merge, she'd inherited the girl's long flaxen hair and dainty features. It was a little interesting, even though it was also horrifying. The baby bump she was wielding seemed even more ponderous on her smaller frame.
She was startled as a woman's voice rang out from behind him. "Aren't you getting ready for school?"
Charlie spun around awkwardly to see an older woman who resembled her current body. Probably, this was her mother now, but where the hell had she come from?
She froze. She hadn't anticipated this turn of events. Before she merged with the little girl, she'd been looking forward to a day of not having anybody bother her. And now she would have to go to school? That would certainly turn out to be a quagmire.
"I... um, I'm not feeling well. I'm thinking of staying home," Charlie offered.
Her mother's eyes narrowed. She clearly wasn't buying it. "Kendall, you are absolutely going to go to school. The reason why I'm helping you raise your daughter is so that you can continue your education and make a better life for her. So, yes, you're going. If you truly can't finish the day, I will come pick you up. Am I understood?"
Charlie sighed. Great. So she was the pregnant teenager with the hardass mom. She nodded gingerly. "...yeah."
