The rest of the night was rather placid for the three, hours ticking by until well past midnight.
Leonard, Veronica and Lisa kept to themselves, half invested and half board while they waited for something to transpire.
A UFO to appear, a radio call, a sudden meteor streaking thru the sky, anything. Leonard rolled over a bit, accidentally
bumping into his wishing rock and picking it up. "Oh, must've fallen out of my pocket." He looked up above and gave
a long, exhaustive sigh. In his somewhat tired state he carelessly uttered the words, hardly even cognizant or truly
processing that he had a magical all-powerful artifact in his grasp. "I wish an alien really would come down and try
to conquer earth. That would be.. splendid." He said so carelessly, before laying back. The rock flashed but the
other two weren't paying attention - Lisa with her radio equipment, and Veronica on her cellphone swiping down.
None of them realized a wish had even been made.
Elsewhere, a million lightyears away an orbital spacecraft deep-space was scanning the local galaxies for good acquisition, the milky way included.
This sphere shaped ship was scanning the stars, on the opposite side of said galaxy, and effectively just about to leave for greener pastures on some
more habitable cluster of stars and planets. Just before its pilot could fly off, a strange probe suddenly appeared - no bigger than a single meter,
detected on its radar. Its tractor beam pulled it in and analyzed the strange footage contained inside. How did, a craft like this get this far? It
barely had enough fuel to leave the solar system and that was with a genius's scientific design for its battery. The wish itself had rather, sent it far out into
deep space where it could be discovered by the pilot of the ship hence Nonetheless, the ship pilot put it thru a deep scan and detected it came from
some planet on the other side of the milky way (Star Cluster system U-785 H5#383581 for the probe).
A planet appeared on the ship's monitors, revealing what its inhabitants called 'Earth.' Real-estate was nothing special, and habitable planets
sold a good price on the black market, but a new fresh source of labor in the form of a highly populated population? That was more or less the jack-pot.
The ship was set to maximum velocity with its Warp Engines, going many billions of times the speed of light towards its next target.
"I've gotta go. Sorry Lenny, you know I've got that rally speech to give for tomorrow's first day." Veronica told the geek.
"Oh? R-right, forgot about that."
"Don't worry, you don't have to go or anything. I'll just work my way back and have to eventually miss out on the aliens beaming down."
Veronica winked, more encouragement in her words than cheeky playfulness really.
"No it's fine, I, I should get atleast a few hours of sleep for school too. Don't want to get yelled this time of year on my first day.. again."
Lisa hearing these two took off her radio-headphones and started to box up her equipment. She took a watergun and hosed down the fire.
All three swiftly packed up their belongings, folded the sheets and carried their totes and folding chairs, and made their way back to civilization.
"Someday.." Leonard said, looking up high in the sky.
"Come on, let's get home before the wolves appear." Veronica teased. "Wolves?" Lenny twitched.
"Just joking bud. C'mon, who'd be scared of some wolves? They'd probably make me their queen anyway."
Before long, they all headed back to Leonard's place and settled back in bed, Veronica taking a short detour
back to her own home.
