"Listen, I don't ..." Charlie began to say.
"What did I say about talking?" Donovan asked.
"Where is everyone?" This might have been his only chance at asking.
"Like you don't know."
"I don't."
"This innocent routine won't work on me, you know. I'm not a sucker. Not like all those people you murdered with your machine."
"Machine?"
Donovan walked over to him and leaned in towards him. "No more talking," he said. Then he hit Charlie in the head with the butt of his rifle.
Charlie woke up at the voice of Donovan. He was screaming about something.
