Jason just couldn't get that movie out of his head. Evil fairies wreaking havoc on humanity? If that sort of thing did happen, he was glad that it only happened a thousand years ago and not today.

As he walked to his car, he heard what sounded like a buzzing sound. At first he thought it was an insect, but he didn't see anything flying around him. Shaking his head, thinking it was just his imagination, he continued walking.

But the closer he got to his car, the louder the buzzing sound became. Then suddenly there was a voice. A girl's voice, from the sound of it.

"Jason," the voice said.

He stopped, looking in all directions. He was the only one in the parking lot. There was no one else there.

"Who's there?"

"Me."

"Me who?"

"Look up, silly," the girl's voice said, and Jason did as she asked.

It was a fairy, just like in the movie. No more than five inches tall, the body of woman, and wings like that of an insect. But it couldn't be. Fairies weren't real. It was just fantasy.

He closed his eyes, like that would make her go away. But when he opened them again, she was still there.

"I'm still here, silly."

"What do you want?" Jason asked.

"I want to be your friend."

Jason remembered what happened to the people that befriended the fairies in the movie. Everywhere they went, other people's wishes were always granted, except that the fairy twisted them, turning them into nightmares or perversions. No way was Jason going through all that.

"Well, I don't want you to be my friend," Jason said firmly.

Then the glowing white fairy began changing its color to a fiery red. Jason remembered this part too. When the fairy didn't get her way, she became angry and punished her "friend". But since Jason never became her friend in the first place, he didn't think this would happen. Of course, this wasn't a movie. It probably worked differently in real life.

"I'm sorry," he suddenly said, before she got a chance to do anything to him.

The glow around her returned to its normal soft white color and she smiled. "So you will be my friend?"

Jason decided to agree, but only to give himself the opportunity to figure out how to get rid of her. The movie took place in a medieval setting and not present-day, so the methods used in the movie to get rid of the fairy would be hard to reproduce, or even impossible. But he had to try.

"Yes. I'll be your friend."

She flew in a barrel roll and laughed. "We're gonna have so much fun!"

All Jason had to do was stay away from other people. The fairy never granted any of her friend's wishes, just the people who came in contact with them. As long as he isolated himself, he'd be keeping everyone safe. But, of course, he couldn't stay alone forever.
