When Jason's eyes shot open, he saw that he was in a pitch black room. Well, he assumed it was a room. He definitely wasn't in his car anymore, and he certainly wasn't outside.
"Is anyone there?"
There was nothing. No sound, no light. He had never felt so alone.
He moved around, holding his hands out, trying to feel where the edges of the room were, but he never felt any edges. He must have moved at least ten to twenty feet in each direction, but there was no wall. He tried standing up, but ended up hitting his head. It was a large space, but it apparently had a low ceiling, maybe only about 4 feet high.
After about fifteen minutes, he started to get claustrophobic. And fifteen minutes after that, he began to get nyctophobic (afraid of the dark).
Then, suddenly, Jason was engulfed by a beam of bright intense light. It was so bright that he had to close his eyes. After being in darkness so long, it was like looking straight at the sun.
"Who are you?!" he shouted.
But still there was no answer.
