A few hours later, around two or three in the morning, Jason awoke. Something was wrong. He didn't know what, but he knew that there was something wrong with him. He had a slight headache and fearing that maybe he had a concussion from his fall, he ran to his bedroom mirror to see if his head was bleeding.

It wasn't. But Jason discovered that he had a different problem.

His skin was almost pale white. He turned on his overhead light to get a better look. He wasn't hallucinating. His skin really was that pale. Since he usually had tanned skin, he didn't understand how this could be possible.

But something else was wrong. He looked at all angles of himself in the mirror, but didn't see anything different (other than his pale skin), until he opened his mouth. He had fangs. Vampire fangs. Then it all came back. Narayanne, the bite, everything.

This is impossible, he thought. Vampires aren't real, so I can't really be one of them.

He reached in and pulled on one of his fangs, thinking that it would just come loose, as if it were fake. But it didn't budge. It was real.

He stumbled backwards and collapsed on his bed. Vampires were just in movies, like the one he had just watched a few hours earlier. They weren't real. But, the truth was staring him in the face. Jason was a vampire.

His stomach grumbled. He was hungry. But he had watched too many vampire flicks to realize that he wasn't hungry for food, but instead he was hungry for blood. Human blood.

His stomach grumbled again. He tried to ignore it, and that worked for another ten minutes. But the more he refused to quench his thirst, the more painful it got. He needed blood, or else the pain would get even worse yet. And his head felt like it was going through a migraine.

He couldn't take it anymore. He stood up, got dressed, and left his apartment to look for his first meal as a vampire.
