Joe polished off another beer and looked down into the empty cup in disapointment. He sighed, dropped the cup on the floor and looked over the multicolored crowd. Normally he loved halloween parties but this year he couldn't help feeling a little disappointed. Most people's costumes seemed either slapped together or brought in K-mart's halloween department. But that was a minor complaint it was the rigged costume contest that had him down. His costume should have won hands down. A latex mask, ear tips, fake claws, a hand sewn tail and body paint from head to toe still didn't prevent a mostly naked girl from taking home that three hundred dollars. To top it off his girl friend, Meg, was drunkenly flirting with anything that looked vaguely like a man and ignoring him.
He was about to go find another beer when he hear a female voice. "Hey kitty, why so glum?" Joe looked over to find a very attractive woman in a black evening gown. She was raven haired and brown eyed but she looked a little old to be at a fraterity party. "Want to sit and talk awhile?"
Joe looked at her quizzically but then shrug and sat back down on the couch. The woman jumped on his lap and threw her arms around his neck. Joe open his mouth to protest but the woman cut him off. "The name is Narayanne. I'm pleased to meet you Joe. I think you look alot better as a kitty than that girl that won that stupid contest."
Joe was taken a back and fumbled for a reply. "You look really nice too..."
"You think so? This costume is just slapped together, not that looking human is really hard. Your's on the other hand must have taken hours to put on." She drew her lips close to my ear and whisper into it. "Infact I think you looks so good as a mountian lion, you should stay that way permaently."
Joe started to say something but halted as he felt her hand encircled a piece of his anatomny that had not been there before. Joe dimly realize that he had a tail before his world exploded into pain. All his muscles contracted at once and began to rip and tear. Every single bone in his body seemed to burn. He roared in agony.
Then, as suddenly as it started, it stopped. A strange sensation passed over his head and down his back, it was a very pleasent feeling. He mentally probed his body, twitching his ears, flexing muscles and claws. He was way beyond his costume, more cougar than man.
He heard Narayanne voice above him. "Exactly as your mind imagined your costume, a mountian lion that could talk, walk comfortably on two or four feet and pawlike hands. Your very welcome. Now how about you help me get this party hopping, or at least howling."
Joe swallowed..... hard.
