Fully dressed in his normal clothes, Chris left his apartment to find that woman that had changed him. On the way down to his car, he realized that he didn't have his car keys. Most people would keep all their keys on one ring, but Chris kept his car keys separate from all his other keys.
He went back up to his apartment and searched for the keys, but after a time he decided that they weren't there.
"Where else could they be?"
Then it hit him. The last time he was in the car was when he was P.L. That meant that the keys were almost certainly ... in Tank's apartment. As much as he didn't want to see Tank, he needed his car keys. It would be much harder to find that woman without his car.
So, he walked to Tank's apartment and knocked on the door, not realizing that Tank wasn't exactly himself.
