"Susan, you're up first!" Carly announced. Susan Shipowitz quickly left her position from behind the first contestant's podium to join Carly near the first challenge. Susan still wondered what happened to Charles, the show's regular host. "They must have brought in this bimbo to try to boost ratings. Probably won't help for too long, the show's pretty lame," she thought to herself. Susan did not really care for the show, but she decided to be a contestant, thinking that she could make some quick money to help pay for school.
Carly greeted the first contestant, "Hey, Suzzy! Welcome to our first-"
"My name is Susan, not Suzzy," Susan curtly interrupted. She hated when people called here Suzzy. In Susan's mind, Suzzy was not the name of a successful woman, and she would not let people assume that she was just some dumb girl. This was also the reason why she kept her blond hair short, and why she wore a conservative blouse and slacks.
"Like, what-ever! Anyway, here's our first challenge: The Treadmill of Trivia!" Carly continued. "The rules are simple: You'll have two minutes to answer as many questions as you can while running on this treadmill. It will start out slow, but will get totally fast by the end of your time. You get 50 points for each right answer, and a penalty for each wrong answer. Are you ready, Suzzy?"
"It's Susan, and, yes, I'm ready," said Susan, annoyed by being called Suzzy again. She was surprised by the mention of penalties. "Oh, well," she thought, "I'm sure they're nothing I can't handle. I don't plan on getting any of these stupid questions wrong anyway."
