The touch of deranged omnipotence stretched out to her new victim...
Roberto, or as he preferred, Rob, was walking down the outdoors plaza and casually admiring the various displays in the store windows when a strange, cold tingle washed over him. He looked around for the air conditioning vent he had walked under, but saw nothing. Puzzled, he kept on walking down the sidewalk, admiring a pretty blond across the way.
A window display caught his eye and he paused to examine the female mannequin on the stand, dressed in a rather attractive white evening gown. The strange cold tingle came back, but he ignored it for a few seconds -- then it surged all over his body and staggered him.
He gasped in shock, then immediately realized something was wrong from the sound of his voice. Looking down, he saw something impossible -- he had become the living image of the mannequin on display, dressed in the same outfit! "This is impossible!" he whispered in a new, higher voice, then looked back at the store display. In the window was... himself as a mannequin, wearing his old clothes!
Rob tried to get his wits together, trying to figure out if he was dreaming or what. Before he could form any coherent idea of what was going on, a saleswoman dashed out of the store and pointed at him, shouting, "You thief! I don't know how you got that gown past me, but you're not going to get away with it! Police!"
Totally unnerved, Rob backed away. "But... but!" The woman advanced on him, and he turned and fled, panicked, and pushed his way through the shoppers. He found it awkward to run in this new body but fear gave him speed as he tried to figure out what to do. No one would believe him!
He rounded the corner of the plaza, hearing a police man's voice shouting at him to stop from behind him now. As he looked wildly about for a place to hide, his eyes fell upon the stone statue of a dog, one of two guarding the stairs to a building. The cold tingling began building up again... he thought maybe he should try to look away, then...
The world spun and jumped upwards as he suddenly found himself on all fours, and quite comfortable. The world snapped into black and white focus as he lost his color vision. Sounds and scents became sharper. He had become a living replica of the dog statue! He saw that the statue had been replaced by a stone statue of the woman he had briefly been, along with a stone evening gown.
"What the hell is going on?" he tried to say, but only a mangled bark and whimper came out.
