"Why did you decide to meet me and reveal all of this?" I asked.
Louis smiled. "Because I need your help."
"My help? To do what?"
"To break into the new NTE Project site. The moment I became this boy, my clearance was revoked."
"New site? You mean the project is still going? Even after the Shift?"
"You better believe it," Louis said. "The Shift may have been a complete disaster, but the magnitude of what that comparatively small device could do was enough evidence that the NTE Project was not a waste of time and money. No, the project is extremely important to the government. And they're not going to let something like the Shift stop the project from moving forward."
"That seems reckless to me."
"Yeah, well. When you're dealing with these types of government officials ..."
"What exactly do you want to do? Once you get inside the new NTE site, I mean."
He smiled again. "That's the main reason I allowed you to make contact with me. You see, after five years of calculations, I've figured it out. And now I'm ready to make it happen."
"Make what happen?" I asked.
"Reverse the Shift, of course."
