Eric stood up, and realizing how much shorter he was almost fell over again. Eric had no idea on what to do. First he was in the middle of a soccer field, in some kids body. Second the people around him didn't seem like they were going to be much help. There were other people on the field, mostly kids who didn't look much older than 7 or 8 in uniforms like his. Some of the kids looked dazed, some looked scared and some looked confused. A few were even crying.
The adults at the edge of the field acted very similar. Dazed, confused and scared.
Eric was one of the people in a daze. He wasn't sure what to think. Whatever was happening must be a dream or something he thought. It couldn't be real.
Eric was snapped back into reality when he heard someone yelling over a megaphone.
"Attention everyone please! Attention please! Can I have everyone please come over to the scoreboard. Please everyone come over to the scoreboard!"
Everyone started moving towards the direction of the scoreboard. Eric joined them. By the scoreboard there was a man with megaphone standing in the back of a pickup truck. Everyone was gathering around the man. Everyone was talking, crying or calling out to other people.
"Can everyone be quiet please?" The man with the megaphone asked. People quieted down. "My name is Pedro Garcia. Just a few minutes ago I was washing a fire truck in a small Texas town. Now I seem to be a man named Mark." He took out a wallet and flashed the ID. "I seem to have changed bodies. And it seems I'm not the only one." He scanned the crowd. "Many of you now seem to be in another body. But it also seems not everyone has changed. Some people seem to have remained in their own bodies. Now people we have to keep calm. I don't know what has happened or how it happened, but it's happened." People started talking. "We need to get organized. I need everyone who hasn't changed bodies over there, everyone else stay here please."
People started making noises again. Some people broke away to go where Pedro/Mark told them to go.
Eric started moving away. This was all too much. Being in another person's body? It's happened to other people also? He bumped into an adult woman who was crying and asking for her mommy. Eric started backing away from the crowd, the yells for parents, children, friends. He could hear people talking several different languages. Eric knew this was a dream it was too crazy not to be.
"Jeremy! Oh my god Jeremy!" A woman ran up to him and hugged him really tight. There were tears in her eyes. "Jeremy, you're alright, thank god."
