"Where did the human go?" Artemis asked, not sensing his presence anymore.
"I don't know. But I know one thing," Aphrodite said. "Hera has got to be pissed."
"Shut up," Athena said. "You shouldn't talk about her behind her back."
"I wasn't offending her. I just said ..."
"You two, shut up," Artemis snapped. "I think I know where he went."
The two other goddesses turned in her direction.
"It was Loki. The little bastard must be helping the human."
"What do we do?" Athena asked.
They had been keeping an eye on the human during his journey to save his love Fianna from Zeus, hoping to find ways to trip him up. Frankly, they were jealous of Hera and wanted the human Tate to pick one of them to help him. They were the ones who awakened the siren, but that didn't go as planned. And then before they could cause any more trouble for the astronaut, he suddenly disappeared, at least as far as their surveillance was concerned. There was only one god on Mars who would dare to actually help a human without trying to take advantage, and that was Loki. It made the other gods and goddesses sick, thinking that one of them could care about a human the way Loki did.
"Well?" Aphrodite asked.
Despite Loki's intentions, he was causing as much trouble for Hera as the three goddesses were. And although Aphrodite, Athena, and Artemis wanted the pleasure of messing up Hera's plans themselves, they knew that this was an even better turn of events. If (when) Loki got caught, he would take all the heat and keep the three goddesses in the clear. It was perfect.
"We won't do anything," Artemis said. "Yet." There was always the chance that they may need to give Loki a bit of a push. He was a very paranoid and cautious god.
