Karyn Black considered herself to be a pretty lucky person; how many people could say they met the love of their life all the way back in preschool? Jen had been her best friend forever and for the last two year had also been her lovely girlfriend. In another reality, without Jennifer, Karyn may have stayed in the closet. She may have dressed in bulky clothing to discourage the attention of men and struggled with her attraction to women. However in this world that was never the case. She could still remember Jen coming out to her over the winter break of their freshman year and how the world seemed to explode into a supernova when she pulled the beautiful dark haired girl into a searing kiss, revealing her own sexuality and attraction to Jen all in one moment.
The two had been dating ever since and were still going strong, which was why she was confused when Jennifer froze up entirely after their usual good morning kiss.
"Jen, honey, are you okay?"
Jen blinked before smiling the radiant smile Karyn had fallen in love with. "I'm perfect babe. Just surprised by how beautiful my girlfriend is."
Karyn rolled her eyes but still blushed a little. "Smooth. Just drive pretty lady."

Yuki Meshida was going to be late for school. The shy Japanese girl was walking to Lake Valley Academy when she ran into a news broadcast blocking off the sidewalk. It was doubly frustrating because Yuki knew her conservative father would punish her harshly for arriving late to school when he found out. The family had move to the states for her father's work earlier that year but her father still kept a very traditional household, so Yuki hadn't been able to integrate much in the new country. She still spoke in halting broken English and was often mocked for it by her peers, particularly Tiffany Saunders. The senior was jealous of being skipped over for cheer captain in favor of junior Jennifer Gibson, and took it out on those below her on the social ladder.
She bounced from foot to foot, debating if she should turn back to take an alternate route or just wait it out. She craned her head over the barriers to see the reporter giving her spiel to the camera. Jackie Kingsley was a rising star reporter, rumored to be taking over the anchor chair at the end of the month. The All American beauty had entranced the greater Lake Valley area with her liquid smooth voice and enchanting smile. Her few critics had pointed out that her golden locks, piercing blue eyes, and easily double d sized bust had likely contributed to her popularity as well. From what Yuki could make out, Jackie was doing a report about the upcoming Tulip Festival, the big spring event in the town of Lake Valley. Jackie herself had won Tulip queen five years ago, before leaving to attend journalism school, and she was playfully showing off her sash for the camera.
Under her breath in her native Japanese, Yuki muttered, "If only I could be so lucky." A white flash of light blinded her eyes as the world once again changed from Jennifer's fateful wish.
